a friendly morning music ensemble for adults

What is the
b30 Ensemble?

Introducing the B30 Ensemble – your gateway to having fun playing your instrument whilst making friends with others in your community!

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced musician, our pieces are specially arranged to enable anyone who plays any instrument and reads music to play together. Whether you are grade 1 or grade 8, we’ll have a part for you!

What do
we do?

As well as playing a range of music from different genres and eras, (like rock, pop, film, classical, etc.) we organise performances, social events and other fun activities that all members are welcome to join in if they wish.

This group mainly rehearses using music notation or Guitar TAB. If you prefer chord symbols, then check out The Moseley or Bearwood Rock Collective

Check out our resources section to explore the music we play!

ARE THERE AUDITIONS OR
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS?

No! We don’t audition for this group, however this group is aimed at those with at least basic skills on an instrument, and can read some music notation.

We provide musical parts that suit those from around Grade 1 - Grade 8 ability on their instruments, and you can choose an easier, or more difficult part as you prefer.

Are you looking to get into music, but don’t play an instrument or read music? Check out our All Activities Page, as we have lot’s of other groups that might suit you!

Your Session
Leaders

Reuben and Rob lead the B30 Ensemble sessions and are the founders of The Misfits Music Foundation. The two studied composition at the Birmingham Conservatoire, graduating in 2015. Rob then went on to study a master’s in composition at the Hague, whilst Reuben worked as a professional musician and photographer.

On Rob’s return from Holland in 2018, the two founded the Moseley Misfits, our first group. Which, through the Coronavirus Pandemic in 2020, grew to include other groups and projects, becoming the Misfits Music Foundation as it stands today.

When and where
do we meet?

We meet at The Dame Elizabeth Hall on Fridays from 9.45 am - 11.15 am.

This ensemble is ideal for individuals who find themselves with a bit of extra morning time – whether it's after dropping the kids off at school, enjoying retirement, or simply having a leisurely Friday morning and seeking an enjoyable activity.

This venue is fully accessible (step-free access) and has an attached car park. It is also near bus links (20, 882) on Woodbrooke Road.
